Der 22. Radiotag findet am 5. Oktober 2024 an gewohnter Stelle im Technischen Museum QQTec in 40721 Hilden statt.
Viele der Teilnehmer kurbelten früher (und noch heute) an ihren Radios um auf der Mittel- und Kurzwelle besondere Radiosender zu empfangen. Häufig handelte es sich dabei um sogenannte Piratensender die legal von Schiffen in der Nordsee sendeten. Bevor es den kommerziellen Rundfunk in der heutigen an Land gab. Diese Fans trafen sich früher auf der Funkausstellung in Berlin, als diese Messe noch den Namen verdiente. Oder bei Radiotagen in den Niederlanden, Belgien oder England. Dort wurde mit den Profis der Sender über das Hobby diskutiert, und manche der Fans fanden ihren Berufsweg in die Medien.
Beim diesjährigen Radiotag präsentiert Ben Meijering die besten Bilder und Soundkonserven aus seinem Archiv. Und gibt Tipps, wie man seine eigenen Schätze rettet.
Mit „Herbie’s Aktualiteiten“ bringt Herbert Visser schon traditionell einen Einblick in die aktuelle Entwicklung der Medien in den BeNeLux Staaten und darüber hinaus.

Der Höhepunkt des Tages aber wird sein:
RNI Radio Northsea International – The final Jambouree!
Mit den Discjockeys Brian McKenzie, Roger Kent, Marc van Amstel und Peter Hartwig auf der Bühne, und weitere Senderkollegen über Video- Konferenz dazugeschaltet.
Anlässlich des 50. Jahrestages des Sendeschlusses vom Schiff „Mebo II“ dieses in ganz Deutschland beliebten Senders gibt es ein großes Zusammentreffen von Mitarbeitern und Hörern.
Seit einigen Jahren ist der Erkrather Radiotag zu Gast im Technischen Museum QQTec, Forststr. 73, in Hilden. Trotzdem läuft er immer noch unter unter dem Namen “Erkrather Radiotag” und hat Besucher aus ganz Deutschland und den Benelux Ländern.
Die Veranstaltung findet wie üblich von 13.00 Uhr bis 19.00 Uhr statt.
Der Eintritt beträgt 12€.

Anreise: vor dem Düsseldorf HBF mit Bus “Schienenersatzverkehr S6” bis Benrath BF, dann Bus 784 bis Horster Allee , dann zu Fuß Forststr. bis zum IBIS Hotel (Zug S6 fährt nicht wegen Gleisbau).
Oder: Bus 785 Haltestelle Hülsen.
Ankunft DUS Flughafen: Zug S1 Richtung “Solingen” hält Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, umsteigen in Bus “Schienenersatzverkehr S6” oder Bus 785.
Alternativ: gleicher Zug S1 hält auch am Bahnhof Hilden, von dort ca 3 km mit Taxi bis Forststr.
Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof hält der Thalys Zug aus Brüssel über Köln. Brüssel ist mit dem Eurostar von London aus verbunden.
Hinweis: Es gibt in diesem Jahr zwei empfehlenswerte Veranstaltungen, die sich mit dem Besuch des Radiotages gut kombinieren lassen:
– Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon: Im Planetarium Erkrath www.snh.nrw. Diese Fulldome Show wurde anlässlich des 50. Jubiläums des Erscheinen des Albums produziert und ist weltweit in Planetarien zu sehen. Sie dauert genauso lange wie das Album, also 52 Minuten. Bei uns in Erkrath gibt es einen besonderen selbst produzierten Vorspann, in dem auch Bezug genommen wird auf die Rundfunkszene im Jahr 1973. Die Show ist immer ausgebucht, man muß sich längere Zeit vorher über die Termine informieren und reservieren. Und dann bitte anschnallen!
– Yoko Ono. Music of the Mind: Eine Ausstellung ihrer Kunstwerke in Düsseldorf im Museum der kunstsammlung.nrw. Da diese Ausstellung erst eine Woche vorher eröffnet wird sollten Interessenten sich auch hier um die Zeiten und eventuell notwendige Reservierungen kümmern.
The 22nd Erkrath Radioday

THE 22ND ERKRATH RADIO DAY will take place on Saturday, 5 October 2024 at the Technical Museum QQTec in Hilden. This annual gathering of radio enthusiasts with special interests has been held since September 2001.
Many of the participants used to (and still do) tune their radios to medium and shortwave frequencies to receive special radio stations. These were often so-called pirate stations but broadcast legally from ships in the North Sea, before there were commercial land-based radio stations as we know them today. These “anoraks” used to meet at the Berlin Funkausstellung, back when the event lived up to its name, or at radio days in the Netherlands, Belgium, or England. There, they would discuss their hobby with broadcasting professionals, and some “anoraks” even found their career paths into the media.
At this year’s Radiotag, Ben Meijering will present the best pictures and sound recordings from his archive and give tips on how to preserve your own treasures.
With “Herbie’s News,” Herbert Visser will traditionally provide insights into the current developments in the media in the Benelux countries and beyond.

With disc jockeys Brian McKenzie, Roger Kent, Marc van Amstel, and Peter Hartwig on stage, and other colleagues joining via video conference.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the closure of the offshore radio station from the ship “Mebo II,” the Erkrather Radiotag will host a grand reunion of staff and listeners.
Current updates to the programme will be published on this website in due course.
For several years now, the event has been hosted at the Technical Museum QQTec, Forststr. 73, in Hilden. Nevertheless, it continues to be known as the “Erkrather Radiotag” and attracts visitors from all over Germany and the Benelux countries.
The event will take place, as usual, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with an admission fee of €12.

Arrival: in front of Düsseldorf Main Station Hauptbahnhof with bus “Schienenersatzverkehr S6” to Benrath BF, then Bus 784 to Horster Allee , then walk Forststr. , nearby the IBIS Hotel (train S6 is not operating due to construction work).
Or: Bus 785 to stop Hülsen.
Arrival DUS airport: the train S1 direction “Solingen” stops at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof, change to bus “Schienenersatzverkehr S6” or bus 785.
Alternatively the same train S1 also stops at Hilden station, then take taxi to Forststr, maybe 3 km.
Düsseldorf main station is a stop of Thalys train from Brussels via Köln. Brussels is connected by Eurostar from London.
Remark: this year there are two advisable events around to be well combined with your visit to the Radiotag:
– Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon: at the Planetarium Erkrath www.snh.nrw. This fulldome show has been produced in relation to 50th anniversary of the albums release. The visualisation is shown in planetaria around the world. Its 52 minutes with original album soundtrack. Only we at Erkrath have produced an extra introduction, also taking reference to the broadcasting scene of 1973. The show is always well booked, so you may inform yourself about dates well in advance and book tickets. And then fasten seatbelt!
– Yoko Ono. Music of the Mind: an exposition of her artwork in Düsseldorf at the museum kunstsammlung.nrw . That expo shall be opened only one week before the Radiotag. So in case of interest you may also here inform yourself about opening times and in case reservations to be needed.
