I have just updated The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame.
In August 1966 the music industry trade paper Record Retailer started publishing offshore station chart positions alongside its listing of the UK sales Top 50. Correspondent Brian Long has sent us a pile of cuttings. Transcriptions of the first batch are now available;
in 1970 John Kenning nearly joined Radio Northsea International. It didn’t quite work out as planned but he has sent us his story and a couple of exclusive photos;
and some sad news: we have lost two fine former offshore broadcasters – one from the sixties and one from the eighties – and a radio engineer from the sixties too.
