Offshore radio station: Radio Pamela or presumably Radio Torr (named after the businessman Reg Torr who was one of the backers) with test broadcasts on 13th May and an eight hour programme on 19th May 1965 (with the idea of providing a local radio service for Clacton and the surrounding areas and in preparation of the subsequent Radio Tower broadcasts from Sunk Head). The station initially only planned to broadcast on Sundays. A number of potential advertisers had shown interest in the station, as well as people willing to work for the station. Radio Pamela used a 25 Watt transmitter with an aerial attached to a helium filled balloon.
Location: International waters off Clacton-on-Sea (England)
