The Pirate Hall of Fame

2nd August 2025:

I have just updated The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame.

New this month:

  • Forty years ago this month the British government chartered the vessel Dioptric Surveyor to hang around the North Sea and monitor the Caroline and Laser ships in an effort to prevent supplies reaching them. Laser’s Charlie Wolf named this campaign Eurosiege ’85. This month we remember Eurosiege in part 4 of the Laser Story;
  • there are also more press cuttings from the period;
  • going back to the sixties, we have another batch of photos taken by Caroline engineer Sheridon Street;
  • and from 1974 we have Radio Caroline’s first Top 40 album chart.

Apologies if you have recently had problems accessing The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame, or got a message saying it was unsafe. This was due to a problem at our hosting company. Hopefully everything is now back to normal.

My thanks as ever to the contributors.

Best wishes,

Jon
