Ship details: In 1970, four ships (other souces reported of ten ships) were fitted out with powerful short wave transmitters and converted into radio ships in the Polish port of Gdansk. Only one of these ships was supposed to have been used for Russian propaganda transmissions directed to China.
Offshore radio station: Radio Spark, Voice of the People’s Liberation Army, Contingent of Proletarian Fighters, Central People’s Broadcasting Station (black), October Storm Broadcasting Station, Radio October Storm and Democracy Broadcasting Station are believed to have shared the same shortwave transmitting facilities between 1972 and 1989. Some sources say these stations broadcast from Vladivostok, others assume that these broadcasts came from a boat.
